Current Projects:
Mesh Networks & TRILL Fund
We’re working on bulk purchasing mesh network hardware components, soldering them ourselves to save money, hooking them up to scavenged solar panels (donations of old solar landscape lights needed), volunteers will 3d print the housing for them, and then we will install them into little free pantries/libraries, and other public spots all over Omaha!
Community Fridge/Freezer Fund
We will use these funds to further expand our community fridge network in Omaha. Business/homeowners reach out! We are seeking to install these primarily in food deserts. (Anywhere over a mile away from a grocery store.) Construction of the outdoor units are costly. However the fridge and freezer donations are coming in very easily. The brunt of the cost is running electrical conduit out to sidewalks, pouring the concrete, building the pantries around it, roofing it, etc. We seek to incorporate solar-powered mesh node repeaters in each one as well!
Free Pride Quarterly Events Fund
We had a massive success with our first free pride event. However, a lot of the volunteers spent a significant amount from their personal finances to fund it. We want to be able to start a pot to pull from for our future free pride events. We plan on hosting a quarterly queer gathering organized for y’all. Always free, no barriers to entry. We’re cooking up something spooky for this fall.
