MACE Summer Schedule

We will now host the Mutual Aid Community Exchange meetings at the Downtown Library, on Tuesday, 5-7:30pm, for the next 6 weeks. July 28th-September 1st. We originally went with changing the weekly meeting up every week with a different time/place/day of the week, to make it more accessible to all.

Summers are busy for everyone, so we decided on Tuesday evenings, downtown, to be the best fit for the majority of us. We will get back to a more diverse schedule when the kids go back to school.

The MACE meetings are an open invite to all!
We keep it laidback, with snacks.
Just talking and planning various community projects, as they come up.
If you bring a project proposal to the meetings, and people are feeling it, we can run with it.

On the agenda right now is building out more solar powered MESH relays for a free public communications infrastructure, along with continuing the build out of our neighborhood resource map.

We’re working together with the Omaha DSA Mutual Aid Working Group on some upcoming community fridge construction. Stay tuned for updates! Right now we are just waiting on an electrician to install the conduit to run power out to the sidewalk from the host family’s house, before we start pouring concrete footers, and building out the housing for the fridge/pantry.

Packs For Friends is doing a donation drive July 26th, 10am-Noon, outside Green Line Cafe.

July 31st, 6-8pm, First Unitarian Church (3114 Harney Street) there will be a legal defense fundraiser for our comrade Rudy Herrera. We will be serving nachos, tacos and spaghetti. He was arrested for disarming and destroying the weapon of some MAGA chuds. Turns out it was a fake gun, but they brandished it to intimidate the anti-ICE protesters outside the Pottawattamie County Jail. Rudy acted under the presumption it was a real weapon and it is a travesty he even caught charges for protecting people from a potentially lethal threat.
